Actually a moon which surface is completely dark. How do you spot it? Well, a script which randomly generates moving debris and asteroids directed to the center of the black hole. Once they hit the surface (event horizon
we see an explosion.

'm doing a blackhole.oxp
Limitations of the 3D engine are giving me some trouble @ the moment.
Your idea would produce something more reliable
Best of luck if you decide to produce an .oxp
Sadly for me it won't do the job I'm after.

Could you please describe me yours in a private message? I want to see if two flavors of black holes combine well in one ooniverse..

Hmmm, having problems PM'ing so here's a cut+paste.
Hi,
Hope this gets through...
My blackhole is basically a very large animated ship.
It's main purpose is as a way of incorporating wormhole travel into Oolite, & a place for a new race of creatures I'm about to introduce to come from.
( Also looks quite cool )
These requirements mean I have to use a ship so players can interact with it.
My problem is the size seems to be pushing Oolite further than it likes & so is very unreliable.
I guess your idea would prove easier to do where grand spectacle is required, but would not suit my needs.
To me both types of blackhole could be complimentory as yours would look 'cool' & mine would then have less need to be big & so be much less trouble to get working...
All the best if you decide to give it a try.
If not, let me know as I may incorporate your idea into the .oxp I'm doing for the reasons above.
Regards.
Charlie.
