Rebuilding Oosat2

I have all the OXPs on my machine, so I'll try and resubmit the missing ones. As a first go I'll only resubmit the ones that are not on Oosat1 (or already on Oosat2 obviously!).

Unfortunatley, I haven't kept the readmes (as I delete them once I've read them) so it'll be my short describtion that appears rather than the original authors. There are so many Classic OXPs missing, it'd be a shame for new-comers to miss them.

I have credited the Author by starting each description with "Written by XXX" (where I can rember who wrote it  ), but I cannot remeber all the authors. If there is a star by the list I couldn't rember your name! If its your work PM me or put a post here and I'll update the "Story" on Ooast to credit you.

I'll keep editing this post so the full list will always be at the start of the thread.

So far resubmitted:-

HoOpy Cassino.
Custom Sounds.
Asps*
Cargo & Wreckage.
Chopped Cobra.
Cobra Courier.
Cobra Rapier.
Cobra Clipper SAR.
Diso.
Drake MkI & Drake Mk II.
Space Dredger & Sabre Fighter*
Firewasp.
Lave.
The Longshot*
Pelamis.
Military Fiasco & Updated X-Ships.
PTSF-200 (Deleted as updated version posted by Cmdr Wyvern).
Racing Rings.
Spearhead Interceptor.
Spyhunter (Updated Bug-fixed version).
Terrapin Trader*
Tesoura.
Tionisla Orbital Graveyard.
Thorgorn Threat.
Behemoth (Updated version required for the Thorgorn Threat to work properly).
Thargoid Carriers.
The Tiger*
Trans-Hab Stations.
Uruta Mark III & Uruta Mark IV.
Star Wars (7 ships in one download file).

Done!

The Generation Ship by Draco is still missing, but I don't have a working copy on my machine. I managed to mess-up the Script file! Perhaps if someone else out there has it, then they could re-submit it?

Hooray for LB (again). I get to play with some of the stuff everybody raved about from the 'old days' on the BBs. Its amazing I've stopped playing anything else - not even BF1942 online has tempted me away from Oolite since I came across it just two weeks ago!

Yep its pretty addictive!

My job means although I often have to work on a Saturday or Sunday, on the plus side I usually end up with 5 or 6 weekdays a month not working.

Gets boring with the kids at school and wife at work! Discovered Oolite a year ago whilst surfing on a "no work" day and it filled a lot of "no work" days as a player until I made Elite.

So now I'm fiddling with Oolite on my days off!

And very grateful we all are too!

My family is away at the mo' visiting parent-types before xmas and swapping pressies - I didn't have enough leave left and was too busy at work and now I can't sleep coz I've never been in the house on my own for 5+ yrs and its a bit odd!

Fortunately I have the BBs to keep me occupied until the lids get droopy...

I just resumitted the PTSF-200 in PTI.OXP.
It's been given a slight revamp and renamed the Excalibur, along with a somewhat uber NPC military variant, and the Paladin trader.
They're also expensive and very rare - Not seen often in the space lanes, and seen even less in the ship dealer.

Cool! 8)

I'll delte the Story with the resubmitted version. I'll keep an eye on Oosat2, so every time one of the orginal authors posts an update, I'll take the resubmitted one down.

Between mice-pies, I have now resubmitted all the missing OXPs back to Oosat2. There are still some OXPs that are only on Oosat1, but between the two sites, new players will have access to all the OXPs.

I do not however have a working copy of the Generation Ship on my computer, so somebody else will need to resubmit that one.

They'll be available for download once Winston updates Oosat2. So look out for them in the New Year!

Is that a typo or some kind of slang? (hopefully, as I think mice butchers would suffer great risks of getting repetitive strain injuries). :)

The only OXP I'm looking for is the purple 'Imp Courier' anyone out there got it?

Think this was a skin done by someone other than Sleezan and so wasn't released. Didn't Giles do an Imperial Cobra too?

Wasn't the purple Imp C even more ueber than the original one? IIRC Selezen was going to tune the original down a bit, and wanted to update the skin but never submitted the result.

That one is by me as well.

Thanks for putting my ships back on Oosat! I've been too busy to do it myself, but I intend to revamp them all a little bit and re-release them all sometime in January.

Asp Mk I and Asp Explorer with new HUDs
Submitted by Wolfwood on Tue, 2006-04-25 08:27. Equipment | NPC Ships | Player Ships | Ships

Asp Mark I is based on the model used for Asp in ArchElite, which is very different from any Asp in any other version of the Elite. It offers a slightly smaller, poor man's version of the Asp Mk II, a bit smaller, a bit weaker but with a very small amount of cargo space.

ArchElite also professed a variant Asp model that is different enough from the one used above to varrant a separate ship. This one is called Asp Explorer (after the Asp in FFE) and it is somewhere between Asp Mk I and Asp Mk II in speed, but slightly above Mk II in strength. But it is also a bit larger than the regular Asp Mk II and is slower at roll and pitch.

Additionally, because of its size, the ship also has a large tank for fuel, allowing almost two consequtive jumps without the necessity to refuel at the local sun.

Both of these ships come with a re-imagined HUD. The package also includes a HUD for the regular Asp Mark II, for those who want to use it for the regular ship (but you'll have to edit the shipdata for Asp Mk2 yourself).

Shadows from the Past

Space holds many mysteries: all spacers learn this, some sooner, some later. Ships take off from a station and are lost without a trace; some are wormholed across the galaxy, or even between galaxies, leaving the pilot stranded; some pass through witchspace in seconds and have aged a thousand years, the ship's crew aged to dust on the consoles.

And then there are the legends...

There is a legend of ships containing cities, fields, rivers and forests, launched into space in the first flush of mankind's outward urges. Ships that would travel at a snail's space across the light years bearing its fragile cargo to other worlds. Ships that would be so long in flight that hundreds of years would pass between their launching and their planetfall, and that in the intervening time its cargo would have replaced itself dozens of times over, generation succeeding generation succeeding generation, each one accepting the torch of hope, each one keeping the dream alive.

The generation ships.

In these enlightened times, of course, no-one believes a word of them.
But sometimes, a grizzled spacer, deep in his cups and trying to forget the image of a Fer-de-Lance bearing down on him or the swarm of Thargoids in that asteroid belt at Oninre, tells a tale of a witch-space jump gone wrong, his engines depositing him in that nowhere place between the dimensions. He will speak of a massive ship, kilometres long, that ignored his hails as it crept along at a snail's pace, its hull battered and scored and blackened by space. And he will speak of a name still visible, just, on that hull.

... Then perhaps another spacer will buy him a drink, and whisper quietly of another ship, another name...

... another shadow from the past...

The Tiger Mark I.

The Tiger class cruisers are a range of highly agile craft designed for combat, with much of the ship's interior being devoted to the engines and ship computer, this leaves little space for cargo, though still far more than you could find in a frigate such as the Cobra Mark III.

The Mark I is the ship of choice for pirates and bounty hunters, originally developed by Cyberian Labs™ on their home-world of Xexedi. It's rumoured that navy has acquired a copy of the schematics (it's quite hard to hide sending an armada of police ships into an Anarchy class system) and is rumoured to be working on the Mark II as their ships are not well equipped to combat the Mark I.

Owing to the home-world being an Anarchy very few of these ships are available on the market, and where they are theyare highly priced.

A weird little ship I banged on during my free time.
Updated to fix a glaring bug.

This is what happens when a heavy pickup truck, a stealth bomber, a UFO, the standard Cobras and their OXP variants wind up in an alien breeding program. :) Basically a small, uniquely weird fighter-trader that's specced slightly above normal, but not into uberkill.
I trust you find the Terrapin a worthwhile ride, capabable of anything you want to do, and a good upgrade to your startup Cobra.

Pilots turned pirate be warned: Traders flying Terrapins have a small chance of dropping a ticking q-bomb when they get killed.

UPDATE:
For some reason, pirate Terrapins keep pirate Pythons from being spawned. v1.5 removes the pirate Terrapin, and better arms the hunter.
