which packs?

several of the items in OXPs are mentioned in the wiki. have some of the packs been rolled into oolite? or is that stuff just in the wiki to be confusing?

which packs do most people play with? is there a "set" of packs known to not suck? (No one should take this as an insult, I haven't tried ANY yet.)

Pretty much all the packs on Oosat 1 and 2 are cool! Its more a matter of personal taste (purists not liking FFE style ships for example). Although customsounds and the oxps with new stations in them are generally regarded as "must haves". Personally I play with all the OXPs in. If you don't like one then just delete it.

Nothing comes with Oolite. I think that's a design feature. OXPs by Giles and Murgh are the most faithfull to the original game, but you can also get lots of whacky stuff like Star Wars ships, flying Santa, and OXPs which will slow your computer to a crawl or make the game far too easy. Those of us who write the OXPs all have our own ideas of what we like the ooniverse to look like, and we're not above updating the wiki to reflect our preferences. Anyway, my "minimal" set of OXPs is

SHIPS
behemoth.oxp
Lave.oxp
gwxstations.oxp
piratetraps.oxp
oldships.oxp
tugs.oxp
newships.oxp
Missionaries.oxp
manta.oxp

MISSIONS ETC
Assassins.oxp
black_baron.oxp
thargoid_wars.oxp
sunskimmers.oxp
longway.oxp
deposed.oxp
Pirate_coves.oxp
lovecats.oxp
clearskies.oxp

Please don't anyone be insulted if I don't have their OXP installed right now! I'm just a bit of a retro-grouch.

Is there anywhere that you find all the OXPs in one place? I've looked on oosat and oldsat but still can't find:

gwxstations.oxp
piratetraps.oxp

MISSIONS ETC
longway.oxp
deposed.oxp

Could we not move everything onto oosat?

All the above are in Oosat One: http://capnhack.com/hosting/oolite/Oolite/OoSat.html
Under Other OXP's and they are the first, third, seventh and thirteenth in that section.

Have a good 'un!

The moving everything to Oosat2 is being done!

Everything used to be on Oosat2, but the database had a massive crash in October and wiped everything out. We are all having to resubmit everying ATM. Between the two site you can get 90% of the OXPs that used to be on Oosat2, but there are a lot missing. I have virtually all OXPs installed on my system, so when I get round to it I'll resubmit the ones by authours who are no longer about, so unlikley to resubmit.

I have a lot more than that installed. But the number varies as I play, and only very few of them have not been subject to my personal adjustments.

What caught my eye was the absense of mpak (the rusty ships). Do you consider it a gamebreaker? I guess I understand why (the prices, right?). To me those used ships both make sense in the game and add a lot of flavour - not least to the shipyards.

Absolutely, I made a fortune trading from a rusty Python!
