Checking In

Hi folks, just Giles checking in.

Yes, I'm still taking an extended holiday from Oolite and no, I have not been answering [email protected]'s mail (sorry for that). If you really need to reach me [email protected] or [email protected] are better addresses to try.

I am slowly recovering from the RL problems that threw me out of the loop - and my interest in Oolite is recovering at a similarly slow pace (but it is recovering). I've not abandoned you, just shut the part of me that does Oolite's programming into a darkened room until it stops screaming and starts making sense again.

In the meantime I've been active in the Redline community, where I can also be found as aegidian.

Have some happy holidays, however you choose to celebrate, and I'll try to be back with you again next year.

I only just recently discovered this marvelous project, so I have to thank you for your great provision to gamers. I would like to help but I cannot program at that level (read: visual basic)

Nice to see you checking in Giles!

You really left us with a brilliant version of Elite and don't worry about developing it further (unless you want to 8) ), you've done enough and given so much pleasure to so many people both as players and developers, leaving us with the OXP code.

Of course, I'd like to see you get back off the bench and return to the fray. But the real world is more important. I can't begin to express my thanks for the fun this game has given me over the last year, both as a player and (having made Elite) as a developer, tinkering with the code and thinking "I wonder what will happen if I...."

It's nice to know you're around, and we're glad to hear you're recovering. Take your time: Oolite is relatively mature, and will endure for quite some time.

I'm still digesting your code; I find it pretty much brilliant. And I can imagine no worthier cause than resurrecting this pastime from our past times. Thank you!

Hi

It's a good thing to hear that things are moving in the right direction for you.

As a relatively new guy, I'd just like to say thanks for all the good documentation for the game you have written on this BB. I've spend countless hours reading your posts and try to learn as much as possible.

You haven't only given us Elite back but so much more. It's a supertoy. Part like Lego, part ones first 8-bit machine and then comes the openended space action adventure updated for this century. I haven't had to get up at night to jot down computer related ideas since the 80's.

Thanks for many hours of fun playing and even many more oxp'ing and the best of wishes for you.

Hey man!

Really great to hear from you. It's been too long.

But then... I've not been too active here lately too...
sorry about that LiddlBear.
