Mac Friendly Joysticks

It's that time of year, when my family are all flummoxed as to what I might like for Christmas. As I lpondered this over my keyboard, the worn arrow, A, W,and S keys all seemed to cry out in unison for a joystick to share the
abuse heaped upon them by my seasonal "Oolite" play.

I use a Mac Powerbook with the latest OSX. What brands/model numbers of joystick should I direct my family toward?

Thanks, all.

"...and to all a good fight."

I just use a cheap USB playstation controller adapter. All the buttons I need + dual analog.

Thanks, Kroc. I might give that a try. This could cause my resident PSII addict to squawk...

If you've got USB Overdrive X installed on your Mac, then it's really easy to configure any USB joystick for an OSX compatible game - I use a fairly expensive MacAlly iStick, which is really nice, but a lot more expensive than the previous contributor's idea!!

I have an older USB Sidewinder joystick for PC, but since converting to a Mac user I haven't purchased a new joystick. Do you know if Overdrive X will work with any old USB device, even if it is a PC device? I know that the joystick won't work as simple plug-n-play (I tried it), but it would be pretty cool if Overdrive would let me use it after all with my Mac.

I guess I could also just give it a whirl and see if it works...

I can only say...probably!

I used an old Logitech Wingman Attack II USB stick via Overdrive until it decided to get erratic, and bought the iStick. (I guess I gave it too much stick...!!!!)

Both of these worked perfectly well with the Overdrive, but I can't say for anything else.
