General operating questions

Ok, I'm new, but I've had a good look around, searched the web, read the notices, but still have a few questions, so here goes 
1) Is there a list of stars and their connections i.e. 7 l/y jumps or even a linked map set?
2) Is there a definitive list of key controls (I only found out today after trawling the internet that the i key lists symbols when on the star chart, I'll find out what they mean later today! But from what I see it will save loads of time!)
3) Back to keys, the ? for where a contract will take you (galaxy chart) does not seem to work. I have to type the star system in. Could this be related to UK/USA keyboards (mine is UK).
4) There has been some talk about the computer talking to you, is this only in the MAC version?
5) (This should really be 1)) What a great game, I still have Elite and (was it Elite Plus) somewhere.
OK, thats enough for a first post, hope someone can help me and not show me up as muppet, because all the information is on some site somewhere that I've not found a link to!

Ok, I've found the old Elite maps, these seem to be a match, however this leads to another question how do I find the co-ordinates of a system?
