Buying cargo

There's probably an obvious answer to this that I've missed but...
On the old BBC Elite, when you bought cargo, you were automatically asked how many tons you wanted. When I buy cargo in Oolite, I find myself automatically getting either the full amount available or however much will fit in my bay. For example, if my bay is empty and there are 28 tons of computers available, I click on them and automatically get the full 28 tons. On the other hand, if there are 36 tons available, I automatically fill up to the maximum 35. This makes it almost impossible for me to leave a few tons of free space for scooping (unless I eject cargo).
Is there a way of specifying that I only want to buy (say) 30 tons of the 44 available?
