Behemoth kidnapping?

Got sucked into a witchspace battle. Docked with the Behemoth, got new fuel and launched.
I try to make the 6.8LY jump I had planned, but out of range.
"?" is my thought, I look at the map and find my location is back where I started from. I crane my neck to look outside and find out it's no astroconsule glitch: I'm back where I started.

Did the Behemoth (called Grid) hyperspace back to my origin-system, with me docked inside?

Or is this a bug?

(I still have to upgrade to the rc version, working with v1.65b3,windows)

I like the idea of ships you are docked with travelling with you inside.

Yes, I noticed this bug too. It's been fixed for the next update.

Oh. :(

Why is it a bug?

After all, you dock with a military ship that is doing it's own thing, they are not going to hang around in the same system until Mr Nobody launches...

't would be nice if they gave a hyperspace warning...

ATTENTION!

HYPERSPACE

OUR NEXT PORT OFF CALL WILL BE AREXACK-STARPORT

TIME BEFORE LAUNCH IS 60SECONDS AND COUNTING

THANK YOU,
HAVE A NICE GRASSMOWER LOBSTOID

You'll notice - in the uncorrected version, that the system it arrives at is NOT the system it seems to be. eg. If you leave from Lave, get caught on the way to Zaonce, and the Behemoth drops you at Zaonce, it will appear identical to Lave. It's a subtle bug, but it began to wind me up.

When it happened to me it brought me back home, not to my destination.

I guess it's a 50-50 proposition. :)

Ah right.

So when you fix the bug, can it be turned into a feature with a warning as above?

I agree it would be cool that the ships going where it's going. If you've not got enough fuel to make your own way, tough. You either go where the navy's going or you buy some fuel.

The Galactic Navy doesn't coddle star pilots who stumble into places where they shoudn't be.

What do you mean you didn't do it deliberately? Witch drive malfunction you say? Twoddle, you should jolly well take better care of your little ship.

What's this nonsence about a constrictor? I can assure you the Navy has never lost any secret experimental ships and would not be enlisting the likes of yourself to track it down if we did so stop wasteing my time; we certainly do not owe YOU any favours! This ship is going to Zaonce and if you take up any more of my time, I'll have you put out of an airlock, now Good Day!

Didn't realise the Behemoths were crewed by Vogons!

Cheers,

Drew.

This thread suggests that one can regularly have witchspace battles. It has only happened once to me (kills >9000).

I remember that in Spectrum Elite there was a key which allowed you to jump into witchspace at will but I haven't found it in Oolite.

Is there such a key please?

Just pitch up or down as the hyperspace countdown finishes, this works everytime.
