Bundled plugins?

Hello everyone.

Before I make my suggestion/ask my question I would like to just say that what I have seen of OOlite so far is absolutely fabulous!

I wanted to download some plugins yesterday and noticed that there are lots to choose from. So many, in fact, that downloading and installing each of them individually would be a very time consuming activity.

Which brings me to my suggestion: Is it perhaps possible to bundle the available plugins into one or several install files? That way you could just install one file and in the process install a whole bundle of plugins, instead of having to install each plugin separately.

I hope I haven't missed a question in the forum that talks about or addresses this. If so, my apologies for not having checked more thoroughly.

Thanks,

Felix

Hmmm, could have 4 bundles...

Ships
Missions
Big Ships
NPC Ships (like the Dredgers)

*Hates the Idea*

OXPs are already quite bundled.
Ah, but perhaps you are not talking about fusing, but rather about downloading them as a single, big compressed file.
In that case I am tentatively pro.

Should have a ships_bundle_#1.readme or OXP selection exe/batchfile.

Yeah, I was going along the idea of a package with the seperate .oxps in - fusing would be a terrible idea.

Would be better to bundle by author,
that way the author can take the responsibility for keeping up to date.

Clarification

Oh no, definitely not fusing!

I meant the *other* type of bundling. :-)

I liked the idea in a previous post of bundling by ship, mission, equipment, e.t.c.

But for the sake of maintainability I can see why a separation by author needs be made.

And, completely redundant information:

I downloaded most OXP's and absolutely love everything (related to OOlite, please don't get the wrong idea).
