Elite Amiga advice from 30-year-old me

I'm doing good with trading, comfortable traveling, but still struggling with combat. Started playing Elite on C64, but the Amiga was where Elite lived until the early 2000s. So digging out the box, looking through the few handwritten notes for advice to myself today, the only piece of wisdom that jumped out?
Trade at Ensoreus and Ararus.

Beyond that, when I get to galaxy #4, I should look up Zadige, Onzaenve, and Ledila for a great trading/combat route.
I REALLY thought there would be better notes. Young me wasn't much smarter than today me.

Anybody else keep old notes on how to play games before there was an internet? Or guides???

I had notebook (with squared paper, writen by pencil), where I had prices of all product on lot of planets, in attempt to find formula for it (BBC Micro Elite). Also some scatches of ships and crosshairs and laser effects and other ideas from other games. Mainly in pixel graphics (some squares filled, other empty). Some notes and plans, no messages for future me. Main idea was start (on Lave), have Leesti as hyperspace exit from problems, then Diso, but shoot pirates as long as possible without jump, then buy beam laser on the first stop (and usually it was the first stop in game), when I had credits for it.
I had joystick, so hunting was relatively easy.

That's awesome! I've always like to write, but it takes on added weight when it provides a window into a frame of mind from the past. The lifetime of note-taking inspired me to start a daily journal a couple of years ago. Nothing important to track, but I hope someday it will mean something to my son.
Your notes are apropo; it's always good to have an escape route handy!
