Is there somewhere I can download earlier versions of Oolite with the hope of gaining access to their source files please?
So that would perhaps mean a sort of 'retro request' from the likes of GitHub (I did have a look there but it only seemed to go back so far) rather than just a typical version download?
I've a long held wish to tinker with the planet texture generator from the version of the game displayed below:
Less realistic perhaps but it has a certain charm to my sensibilities at least.

Looks like on Github you can go back to 1.77.1
https://github.com/OoliteProject/oolite/tree/1.77.1
What is your idea of an older version? Have you tested the vanilla game?

Check out this link, do you get access? https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... -twrSyDxWg
It contains versions back to 1.62 alpha. Not all versions come with source code though. However, the screen you show seems to be 1.65 and the source for that happens to be there.
But don't worry, if this is not old enough for you I have uploaded a museum piece (1.52 beta) here:

Source code: https://drive.google.com/file/d/132CdMV ... sp=sharing
I don't know if it even compiles on anything anymore though.

Re: Source code for older versions of Oolite
From above:
Potentially integrating it (or aspects thereof) with a more modern incarnation of oolite.
And yes, with regards to 'vanilla'. More realistic/graphically impressive planet textures, whether via oxp or core game, are arguably the right way to go but I don't think they've got 'there' yet. Seeing if I can breathe some new life into an old method...
Yes, thank you! That was what I was after.
I'll put my archivist's gloves on for that one
