Cannot check that myself right now: do we use icons in the Openoffice documents in the Doc folder?

Odd. I’ll have a look at what went wrong. I thought I’d made sure each size had a transparent background.
Solved. The icon at the top left of the window is WMicon.bmp, which should be a 32x32x8 bpp (256 colors) image. The new WMicon.bmp is 32x32x24 bpp (16.7M colors) and that is why we get the black background. I can update the file later today for the fix.

I used standard images, rather than an actual icon image, in the OpenOffice docs. They should be fine.

Regarding the website, simply replacing the file only-media/i/template/logo.png with the new logo should suffice, right? Am I correct in thinking that once we replace the file on github the site will be automatically updated?

I do think the same.
Currently the image is the old logo.

I updated the favicon for the only-static branch of the website (the small icon that appears on the browser tabs) to the new red version and it has successfully deployed to the cloudflare test site, but it has not propagated to the actual one. I guess someone will have to do this update manually?

Do we have a clean copy of the new logo? I'd like to update my YouTube thumbnails.
New logo is here: https://github.com/OoliteProject/oolite ... -logo1.png

Download the raw file from the button on the top right hand side of the page.
Great, thanks!

Just to mention - the original icon (as seen on the oolite.org/space website) was a tad more sophisticated with a delicate stellar backdrop. That backdrop now seems to have disappeared.

We need to disinguish the use of the graphic.
The icon is a typically small image used to click/launch Oolite and identify Oolite windows - be it the main game or a website. You can see it in the top left corner of a window or in the taskbar.

The logo is a bigger image than the icon that we can use in various places and it can show more detail. Here we used to have the star specles.

I believe the website might look better if we had a star background on top of which the logo is placed. Otherwise it looks odd to have stars only at the logo and a black background, and it would be a hell of a lot of work to align separate star backgrounds such that they match the logo's stars.

But there is lots of room for improvement. We could create a theme for the forum to get rid of the blue...

I'll have a think about how to put something with the icon to replace the stars.

All we need is a black area sprinkled with white dots so it combines to a seamless background.

Yes, you could do that. My design brain is thinking that's an unsatisfying way to do it, though. I think we need something that goes with the dramatic red logo, that compliments it in some way, without (at the same time) detracting from it. As I said, I'll need to think for a bit first.
