Hi all,

So I understand that w/o any OXP all systems are made of just one star and one planet with a station. Is that correct?

What are some ambience OXPs I can use that would give me following?
1) Different size and colour of stars
2) Actual distance of stars
3) Multiple planets
4) Different size and texture of planets
5) Orbital motion of the planets
6) Gas giants w/ and w/o rings
7) Moons
8) Pulsars
9) Nebula and gas clouds
10) Multiple stations on multiple planets. Is that possible?

Thanks.

Hallo!

You can expand this things in the manager of the game. Look here: "Ambience", what you like to download...

http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/OXP_List

so long!

Guide to Ambience OXPs: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Guide_to_Ambience_OXPs Will give you some of the above

But there are in essence two suites of oxps which do most of what you want: Additional Planets (SR) & Strangers World.

Nah, I think we are fine with nebulae... :D

Now that is a lot of nebulae! Epic!

<chortles> Povray Planets has #4 and #6 mostly covered!

Tianve.oxp has the only pulsar I know about (also the only bumper-sticker)...
Quasars - nothing
Black Holes - Charlie tried something back in 2006, but there is a black hole in his black hole folder (see Guide to Unlisted OXPs on the wiki). Nebulae - as a_c_ said! try ZygoUgo on the Expansions Manager & there are also system-only nebulae in Diso.oxp & Tianve.oxp.

The 3 pages with links to almost every oxp/oxz are
the Expansions Manager list (reproduced on http://www.oolite.org/oxps/),
the oxp list on our wiki ( http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/OXP_List )
& the http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Guide_to_Unlisted_OXPs mentioned just above.

By the way - a good question! Thank you for it!

I'd say that is some successful implementation...

Thanks, I would check them out. Between Additional Planets (SR) & Strangers World which one do you think has more features?

BTW, is there a way to enable/disable OXPs downloaded from inbuilt manager? I do not want to redownload an OXP after I remove it to try something else.

Rename them slightly, perhaps add an upper-case X to the suffix thus: .Xoxz

Or... move them into a subfolder that (crucialy) has neither the .oxp or .oxz suffix

I have a 'Quarantine' folder within my add ons folder and the same should(?) work within ManagedAddOns
...I'd have thought

Distant Suns OXP gives stars differnt colours and classes. It also sets the distance between the habitable main planet and the sun depending on the star type. So if the star is a Red Dwarf then the habitable planet is closer to the star. If the star is a larger yellow star then it is further away. To get a more interstesing solar system I'd suggest:-

System Redux (plus all the texture packs).
Povey Planets.
Distant Suns.
Orbits.

Extra Stations for extra planets will also add some space stations in orbit around some of the extra planets.

You might also like:-

Solar Flares.
System Feature: Rings
System Feature: Sun Spots.
Asteroid Storm (adds better models and textures for asteroids).

to further spice up your solor systems.

All are in the Manager under Amibience, except for Povey Planets and Orbits, which you'd need to download from the Wiki.

Those 9 OXP working together make for good variety in the planets moons and stars in a system and add Gas Giants as well as rocky planets and moons.

Planet Fall OXP will also let you land on planets and moons (except Gas Giants).

Distances and Named Planets Moons, Stars and Space Stations will be covered by my own Galaxtic Almanc, but I've still got a bit more testing to do with it before release.

Touched Down on a planet from System Redux. Distant Suns and System Redux, Extra Stations for Extra Planets and Planet Fall installed:-

The area you have landed and the city / town / facticility there are also named.
