However on startup I got a warning that a few plugins were not loaded:

Carriers was not loaded as it requires Ship Storage Helper
Ambience Collection was not loaded as it requires Addtional Planets SR Base
Convoys was not loaded as it requires Escort Formations
Carriers with turrets was not loaded as it requires Carriers
Addons for Beginners was not loaded as it requires Ambience Collection
I believe the fact they were not loaded means they could not contain the failing plugin, could they? (assuming we are looking at one plugin that breaks the ISD...)

Having tried the other ~140 plugins in combination the gameplay is actually like before - I do not really miss the ILS.
On the other hand the shuttle can take ages to dock. What can I do to speed this up?

Another thing I noticed is that I can no longer use the fuel generator. It used to respond on pressing zero on the alphanumerical keyboard. Pressing that key now rotates between possible targets. What can I do here?

Have you tried resetting the 2 Priming Keys (while docked!!) on the F4 interface screen? You need to select "Primable Equipment" (under Ships Systems) and then you get to choose the offensive & defensive Fast Priming Keys - offensive is the Tab button, defensive is the "0" button (I think!!). Check the OoliteRS (Reference Sheets) which came as a .pdf in your original game download. Probably worth printing out! AdviceforNewCommanders (Mr Gimlet) is also helpful if you never read it.

One presumes that the search process for the troublesome OXP ended up unsetting your previous Fast Prime choices.

Hiran's first question (how to dock his ISD) leads on to one of mine:

All the dockables I've so far seen feature interior docking - one presumes that this was another nifty wheeze by B&B to save memory: exterior docking (where one docks a la Cherryh novels to the outside of the space station) might be more complex graphically. As regards handwavium, it is also provides protection against marauding Thargoids (although it inhibits a hasty response).

But with the current Oolite game code, would this be possible? Could one create a space station with external 'arms' for spacecraft to dock at - such as Hiran's Imperial Star Destroyer, for example. Could such docking 'work'?. What would the coding issues be?

Good guess. I never primed any equipment so far and was wondering anyway how to activate them one by one. This explains a lot! :-)

I am starting to forget the finer details of the code, but I think that any subentity can be made into a dock. If my recollection is correct, then it should be possible to have external entities as docks. Of course, you will still see the docking pattern upon touching the dock's hot spot and when launching.

True, flying the destroyer is not only about piloting, it is also about commanding the escorts and fighters.
Somehow I am missing keyboard commands to e.g. call them back (they do not all react to a witchspace jump).
Also some documentation might be good to know when they come back (I think it is when the threat level is green), or which target to attack.
Some wiki page about handling big ships or big military ships might be helpful. Does it exist already?

I'm willing to create such a page and give the right questions although I am far from having answers. How would I login to the wiki?
