Ship specifications

Can I somehow see the specifications of the ships that are for sale at a station? Or better yet - view them in comparison to the one's I currently own?
And yes, I know there's a way to see ship's specifications in F4 screen, but thing is - there's only one ship of each class in there while on sale there's usualy several variants of them. The question is - if there's some button to view the specs of selected exact one?

I think there's not. You can save game, buy ship, note specifications, reload game.

*shameless plug mode on*

The [EliteWiki] Ship Comparison OXP allows you to compare the specs of up to three different ships at once. It might be more like what you're after.

I thought that was what was being referenced in the original post, actually.

phkb suggestion is the best I know of, additional information would require to offer all available standard equipment in all combinations which, in my opinion, would give you more than you asked for.

To clarify, the differences between ships of the same model are usually just cosmetic and which equipment comes pre-installed... unless you use an OXP like ShipVersion, in which case you can't tell what the version is before buying the ship.

Well, to clarify - I was wondering should I change the standard Cobra Mk.III wich I had from the start to the Miner (or Mining) Cobra Mk.III. Now, I saw it had much more TC right away from F3F3 screen, but I was wondering about everything else like energy-generators, shields, weapons, etc.. But nevermind actually, I found all the info I was looking for in the Wiki :)

Thanks, phkb, I'll look into this add-on..
