Hello,

This is my fisrt day playing Oolite and I found the game very interesting. Since I am a completely newbie, I followed the tutorial first flight to the Zaonce planet.

I got a problem, I guess since I haven't found what's wrong, so I will need some advices or suggestions :-)

When you enter to the new planet system, the tutorial said to activate in-system jump by pressing the key "J". I should make the crosshair on the middle of the planet. I did all the steps to do it but, the jump don't work...

If I launch the jump, I got a message saying "Hyper mass-locked" and then nothing. Does it mean something is between the ship and the planet? I am in normal speed, the compass is good and the view in the right way...

The tutorial doesn't help too much about this situation. Any ideas??

Thx

ah lol
the newb problem :D
it`s rather easy mate, J works just well but you have a ship or got close to a station thats why you get hyper mass locked.just wait to get pass it or if it is a station dock to it 8)
imagine if you didnt stop and there was a ship in colosion course with you or you would enter a planetary athmosphere or smack into a coriolis station
all the best Cultist

PS:
if you have any other questions do a search, ask in forum,or pm the folks here

The in system jump drive doesn't work when there are other ships, stations, planets or suns in the immediate vicinity. You need to use your normal engines to move away until your scanner is empty, then the in jump will work.

Cheers,

Drew.

Slight correcton - until the scanner is empty of everything *except* white coloured targets. The white coloured (unpowered) will not mass lock your jump drive.

Don't forget to check out the wiki: http://wiki.alioth.net

Slight correction correction - The witchspace beacon doesn't masslock either.

Interestingly, witchspace wormholes do masslock. I'm not sure what the 'mass' is, but there you go.

Well, the entry end of a wormhole is a black hole. They’re generally considered quite massive.
