Fact: I'm late 30's pushing 40.
Fact I'm a fckdup bustard hanging onto 1980-early-something
Fact Too much erm.. abuse has taken out my concentration/coordination
Fact I need a quick way to get a 'Docking Computer' before my love of computers generally, dies altogether :?

Sorry guys, but I ain't that young kid with (almost) countless brain cells to destroy anymore.
So, is there a hack to get the docking computer? I need to progress before i die...

Yes, change your savefile. Open it in a texteditor, not Word but a simple texteditor that doesn't add hidden markupstuff etc...

search for something like (can't access my own savefile right now, so approx)

....<key> has dockingcomputers: false

change it to 'true'...

Sir, you are truely great! (doth's cap)

Yes, that work's a treat. If there was a little more tolerance for a little 'scraping' here and there I would have been happy to continue manual docking as it would have been still been fun and purposeful. Currently it's just too tight for my lack of patience and skill.
I like a beer induced fuzzy, warm glow when taking command of the sumptuous leather
helm and hence progress need to be fairly swift to maintain interest! :)

Thankyou greatly.

Sell your MkIII and get a cheaper ship equipped with DC. It is fair at least.

An old space philosopher once said "if you can't dock without a computer, then you shouldn't be in space at all". I think it was Rafe Zetter. Or it may have been Bill Gates.

;)

Ah, of course, that's what I always do when I start out, buy an MkII-X (From Aegidian's X-ships Addon)

...And then deck it out with the spare change.

or simply learn how to dock with the coriolis.you will feel extatic when you will be able to :)
just take the beacon in target get realy close to it and then face the coriolis entrance.when you get near the entrance lower your speed to half or less and begin spinning in the opposite direction the coriolis is to compensate.presto u`re in (or dead  )

Lol

Thx guys,
Well, first I will try cutlist's tip on station line-up and see how I get on.
Second, I will downgrade and deckout (if neccessary) and revert commander profile.
I didn't realise that I could immediately sell my ship!

Laters :)

Btw, I have only 'proof of concept' the docking hack locally at Lave (i.e. no profit)...

Sh*tman! Cutlist you deserve a knighthood
That worked FIRST TIME lmao!
Okay, I will rescind my profile change and remove the docking hardware.
I really think that suggestion should be 'sticky'd up'.
Well done mate. Have a beer, I'm gonna

Interesting, I always have (in Elite and in Oolite) spun with the station, so that as I fly in we are on a level plane (so to speak)... Surely opposite direction would make it harder?
