How much to buy a Rock Hermit

Just out of curiosity, mind you, completely academic...
What would a Rock Hermit cost to buy, in general terms. Ignoring any local factors (eg government, economy, etc). Would 1mil CR be too much? Too little? Suggestions?

That depends on whether owning a rock hermit would generate income for the player. Certainly in the seven-figure bracket, anyway.

Interesting topic, personally I would be higher than 1M, some ships are already in this range.

Very much this … and something like this would be a long-term investment, so it could take a
long time before anyone sees a return on their investment.
I think, in game terms, it might make sense to ask what you want to do with a player-owned Rock Hermit, and at what time in their career a player might be thinking of buying one. It could be possible to give a Rock Hermit a (relatively) low price, if there are also ongoing operating costs: equipment, wages (or replacement slaves), food, air, etc. To say nothing of permits, taxes, protection money, and the like.

Initial purchase price: 5 million
Operating costs: variable (see Big D's post)
Optional:
Refurbishment costs: 1 million
Upgrade of shipyard: 3-5 million

A thought of mine, why not a company model ? Either taking over the entire place or buy a package of shares with occasional offers to get more. The Rock Hermit could be a place of trading, a base, a factory or a mixture of all. Obviously every quarter (?) you will receive your part of the profit or need to pay in for future improvements (better shipyard ?).

Yeah i'm somewhere around this amount, but i think i'll need a bank loan as i only have 6500cr currently.
