Hi,many thanks for Oolite,great game.

Prob initiating the black baron mission though.I have completed the long way around mission and have been trading back and for to Teesdi with no sign of the black baron mission starting.

Did find it a bit arkward to understand the files within the black baron zip file but avoided the _macosx files and copied the other oxp within the 1_2 folder into /usr/lib/Oolite/AddOns/.

OS is Ubuntu Dapper6.06.

Best Wishes Chris.
PS Anyone else here got less than 12 kills!.

Dang! still buggy?

/doubletake:/ But what do you mean less than 12 kills? you got less than 12 kills? You need 150 kills at least to trigger it. I see that's not in the wiki, gonna change it.

Sorry 'bout the 150 kills prerequisite, but I thought the 'regular' Ooliteer was a bloodthirsty animal ;)

If you aren't too afraid to mess things up, you could change the 150 kills into a lower number, into the oxp, look for the folder config and there's the file script.plist. open it with a simple text editor (notepad for Windows, nano, kate, gedit etc. for *nix, texteditor for Macs) But not with Word or other fancy wordprocessor, because these write hidden stuff when they save, making the file incomprehensible for Oolite.

And there into the first few lines there's somewhere something saying like 'score bigger than 150' you can then simply change the 150 to a smaller number and save it.

But the 150 kills has a reason: it makes sure you're already quite proficient in space-battles, because, well... You'll need to be a good fighter in this mission.

Will go for change to 50 kills.

Going to edit the file to 50 kills and see how i get on.

Been doing a dog-leg into the destination planet which is fast and keeps me out of pirate probs but doesent teach you how to fight or get kills. So going to do that now.

Thanks and best wishes to you all,Chris.
PS.I think Oolite ought go on to GNU/Linux repositories, will post that to Ubuntu, see what they say.

Not possible (kinda)

it is already in repository, non-free, because Giles doesn't want it under the GNU licence, but the CC one, only because that would make it possible for someone to take Oolite and redistribute it for a paying version.

Since Oolite is so close to Elite, that would lead to problems with Braben and Bell, something no-one wants to see happening.

So it's not about principles, just real-worldd legal issues.

There's a topic about Oolite in debian under the linux category, I suggest you check it out.

Best Wishes to you all.Chris.

If you've got 66 kills under the belt you're not a rookie anymore, so you'll do OK, I think.

if you've got a grandson you can't be a rookie. surely.

Well you could have a grandson and still be a rookie but with 3 daughters it best not be,survival then is the issue.

Mission kicked of great with the plist dropped to 50 kills needed.Upping scrapping skills in the mission.

Great game, having a laugh also with many humorous posts on this forum.
Thanks and best wishes,Chris.
