Asteroids and targeting...

I'm sure many have had this issue, so I'm sure someone has a fix.
When I'm out and about hunting bounties in the fields, cause that's were the bad guys hide, I have a hell of a time getting my systems to target the bounty.
Seems, at times, that it wants to target my escorts and asteroids more often then not, and punching the tab button repeatedly, tosses the spoken word into a tizzy. LMAO...
Buy this time I'm hip deep in pirates and half my defenses are gone.
Is there a fix for this?
I do have the auto-target hostile mod, but that does not help if I'm not being attacked or if they break off the attack.
I still end up cycling through every escort, asteroids, and piece of space trash there is before it wants to target a ship.

Are you using a targeting aid (like Fast Target Selector, Targeter, or the Military Targeting System)?

Yep FTS is my primed offensive.
I know there is two settings in the FTS changer, one is standard, the other I can't remember. I have mine set to standard targeting.
I think I have all of the targeting mods, loaded.
Damn, I'd give you the list of what I have so you could see if any conflict but I'm out of power till tomorrow.
Living off grid is such a challenge...

FTS will automatically target enemy ships if they're actively attacking you. However, if they're just cruising, and you're not at red alert, then yes, FTS will target everything in scanner range. That's what you get for a cheap targeting solution!

The other mode of FTS essentially just stops the enemy-ship targeting during red alert conditions, allowing you to target everything.

If you're looking for finer control over what you target, the Targeter OXP or MTS might be the one for you. From memory, I think both have a "powered ship" mode, or something like it.

Edit to add: I find, when I'm in a high-density part of space and I need to target a specific ship, that I switch back to the standard (core) method of targeting - that of pressing "t" to turn on missile targeting, and then moving the reticle over a ship to select it.

I look into both of those on the morrow.
Thanks.
