Auctions - How can you be at the right place at the right time?

Hello Oolite lovers,
I love the idea of attending an auction, but I never seem to be in the right place at the right time. Either I arrive at the trading floor far too early, or miss it completely.
Does anyone have any advice on how I could control time of arrival better?

You mean the auctions in the New Cargoes OXP? It can speed up the time, if you take the auction, but maybe it is not convenient to perform other missions. Right?

Yes - but the challenge is being at the planet at the right time. I seem to arrive may hours too early or too late. Waiting for hours seems a waste. That's why I am keen to learn if there is a way "time travel" in the same place to kill the waiting time.

You can sleep in the Hotel in
Life in the Frontier. Seéect "Disembark" in F4 screen, then follow the route on the map shown in the wiki to the Hotel. Other places or just walking around in the station need time also.

I wish New Cargoes got an update.
to mix in with all the current Oxp's and also to play nice with the smuggling oxp's.

Special cargo interface:
Check: Enter the trade floor -> Move on -> View planned auction
Goto: Talk -> Wait for the auction to start -> Start auction
Take small talk
. No real-time of waiting for hours, but it is speed up the game time. Right?

Got into the auction and the clock wound forward to the starting time.
If anyone knows how long an auction stays open, I would love to know!
In auctions that are open, when I bid, nothing else happens. Or if it is an auction with the bid price reducing, the reduction doesn't seem to happen. Does anyone know how long the auction stays open or how long you would expect for another bid or the close of the auction. Is it possible to see a "remaining time" countdown?
