Has anyone ever effectively used the tactic of ejecting cargo or other items while traveling towards a target at high speed, then turning away, flinging the ejected item at the target?

I think Captain Hesperus had invented this combat technique back in the ancient times. You may still be able to find some stories about it if you look in forum posts from early enough.
