Recently climbed behind the joystick of an Anaconda for probably the first time since 1990. Woah, it really does fly "like a rogue asteroid".
But something was going wrong. When I went into Torus Drive in open space, my cabin temperature (and I assume skin temperature too!) would creep up over a matter of a minute or so (clock time, not game time) until I got a red alert and had to drop out of T-drive to cool off.
I'm trying to replicate it, but not having much joy. At that time I didn't have Extra Heat Shields fitted - and that does seem to have fixed the issue. I'd also tried to scoop gas from a planet only to get warned off.
I suspect this was a sporadic event - I'd been playing that session for some hours, so what state the memory space was in, I don't know. But if anyone has seen the behaviour before, this is an FYI
Actually, since I can't remember the last time I flew a cargo-bucket, it could even be designed-in behaviour - would certainly change game-play if it were deliberate.
FYI - Anaconda overheats in Torus-drive??

Re: FYI - Anaconda overheats in Torus-drive??
This looks like an issue with Ship Configuration OXP as cabin temp doesn't play a big part of play in the core game. I'll investigate.
Edit: OK, I just tried running an Anaconda in Torus drive but didn't get a heat increase, so something else must be contributing. In Ship Config, the things that will generate heat are injectors, initiating a hyperspace jump, using the cloaking device, flying at speeds above the level set by boosters (when not in Torus drive or using injectors), or firing lasers. There could also be a heat increase if your ship is hit with unshielded laser fire, and the default level of your cabin temp could be increased by the amount of bus overload you currently have. In the core game, heat could increase if you're near the sun (obviously), or if you're in the atmosphere of a planet. If none of that sounds familiar I might need to have a look at your save game and see if I can replicate the issue from there.

Nope. in normal flight, T-drive. No injectors. In Ship Config, the things that will generate heat are injectors,
I was heading towards the star to top off the tanthoseks before leaping into an Anarchy (with anticipation of trouble, and needing to jump on ; better to have Q in the tanks than in the environment).initiating a hyperspace jump,
TTBOMK, I don't have such OXPs installed. Certainly not deliberately - they may be in the depths of dependcies for OXPs I do have.using the cloaking device,
Not sure how I'd do that ; no finger on the 'i' key, but as I said temperature rising in T-drive, and dropping off when I dropped off T-drive.flying at speeds above the level set by boosters (when not in Torus drive or using injectors),
Milk-running to the sun for fuel, and well before the "Temperature monitoring Critical" warning.or firing lasers.
Sorry, didn't save the save game. Have put the Anna through the shredder. "Flies like a rogue asteroid," as I said.
If I see it come back, I'll save a sample before I cook the ship, passengers and neighbours.

Re: FYI - Anaconda overheats in Torus-drive??
The cloaking device is a core piece of equipment, awarded after completing a particular mission. No OXP required for that one.RockDoctor wrote:TTBOMK, I don't have such OXPs installed.
Can I ask, are you using the "Ship Configuration" OXP? If you are there might be a bug. If you aren't, then something else entirely was as fault.

I'm not using the "Ships Configuration OXP". I should have thought of that earlier.
Checking my list of installed OX(Z)Ps is ...
(Dump of data to log file - is this what you need?)
I guess I should get rid of some of them.
As a question, has anyone tried loading every single OX(Z)P in the library to see if they can fry Arcturan Slimeamander eggs on their Astrogation console?
