I expect the answer is no, but is there any way to disable/hide the (Adjusting)
bit?

The answer is actually yes. In descriptions.plist, find the line that reads:
"clock-format-adjusting" = "%07d:%02d:%02d:%02d (adjusting)";
and remove the adjusting bit.

If you don't mind me asking, why would you want to do that? It's pretty important to know when you've burned off a big chunk of time by travel or repairs etc.

Having an instrument panel rather than a conventional hud, it simply doesn't fit - and I can see when the clock is running fast.
I should've known to look in descriptions.plist
, but this old brain - what's left of it - is running slow!

See what you mean. Maybe having the numbers flash or something while readjusting would serve the same purpose?
