Side aim works well enough - especially on the large targets deserving of a proper broadside ... for dogfighting, yes, setting the accuracy high enough to avoid the penalties is useful - the bit which was removed was the old-style AI command to force side-weapon attacks on a target (because of how combat flight works it wasn't a useful or effective command - letting the AI choose which laser mount to use works better)

If you want to properly force a side-weapon attack, [wiki]OXP_Scripted_AI[/wiki] is the way to do that.

Multiple Lasers v1.1 contain aft lasers and more ships:

Aft dual lasers: Boa Class Cruiser (Fw:4), Python (Fw:1), Wolf Mark II (Fw:3).
Anaconda hold 3-3 lasers on all sides.
Black Cobra4 has 3 forward lasers in the same central position.
Constrictor has 3 lasers.
DTT War Lance has 3 forward and 3 aft lasers.
Staer9's Asp Mark II Special has 3 forward and 3 aft lasers.
Staer9's Chameleon has 3 forward lasers in the same central position.
Staer9's Mussurana has 4 forward lasers in the same position (for 875kcr).
Staer9's Python Class Cruiser and Python ET Special got 2 forward and 2 aft lasers.
Stormbrewer has 3 forward lasers and gun subentitites.
Vector has 2 forward and 2 aft lasers, aft ones in the same position.
Compatible with Random Hits and Random Hits Shipset OXPs.

A quick fix and two more ships in v1.2:

Fer-de-Lance hold dual forward lasers in the same center position.
Staer9's Monitor Mark II has dual forward lasers.
Fixed "cannot make vector" errors.

Hello Norby,

I note the Caddie has been gifted but was wondering somewhat ( incredulously to some perhaps ) If the Dark Rainbow Variant will get the same Multiple Lasers as the Caddie...

Will this be made available for 1.82 soon?

Sadly, it's very likely that it never will be, as the feature, that mostlikely allowed this modification (weaponport spliting and multipling), is brand new in 1.83. :(

Thank you, Dark Rainbow and other ships are added in the new v1.3.

No more penalty on side laser usage of Anaconda NPCs.
Cat and Iguana has double lasers on each sides (4 in total, NPC only).
Caduceus Omega (1.6MCr) and Dark Rainbow (2 MCr) has 3 aft lasers.
DTT Heart of Gold has 4 forward, 2 aft and 5-5 side lasers (for 1 MCr).
Far Arm Corsair has 5 forward and 3 aft lasers for 680 kCr.
Far Arm Hunter has 5 forward lasers (and zero aft) for 650 kCr.
Far Arm Scow SE has 3 forward lasers (and zero aft) for 360 kCr.
Far Arm Tanker SE has 3 forward and 3 aft lasers for 720 kCr.
Stormbrewer-vigilante has 5 forward and 5 aft lasers (NPC only).

You can try it if you install the trunk version into a different folder than your main game, just be careful and save often into different files for sure. I hope the new functions bring more testers who send more reports which help to release the stable 1.84 sooner. :)

"dual forward lasers in the same center position." sounds powerful. I like the concept, that the Fer-de-Lance higher price is finally justifiable now. The Fer-de-Lance is fast, but also easy to hit and an excellent energy recharge rate doesn't compensate only two energy banks for 485kcr. But a higher laser-dps that's unerring?...That's something worthy to pay for. (Haven't tested it though. :oops: )

Updates in v1.4:
-No more harmless pilots on high-end OXP ships with 4-5 lasers.
-Anaconda laser distances on sides increased to 50m for wide separated [wiki]Eco Lasers[/wiki].
-Turrets removed from Far Arm Corsair and Hunter in favor of 5 lasers.
-Corsair R has 3 forward (wide separated) lasers only but keep the original 2 turrets.
-Python, Python CC and ET got 2-2 wide separated (50m) side mounts for Eco Lasers.
-Stormbrewer Vigilante player version is supported with 5+5 separated (30m) lasers.

Hey there Norby,

Long-time lurker coming out of the shadows. Just thought you should know that there's an issue buying/selling lasers with multiple lasers installed.

For example - if I un-mount all lasers, then buy a front laser on a Cobra Mk 3 then resell, you get 3 times the money back.

Buy/Sell/Buy/Sell for infinite money! Probably not as designed :)

Welcome in the Oolite forum!

Refund is handled in the core game, please update your trunk game due to I can not reproduce the problem at me in the 1.83.0.6660 build.

I observed that a new commander can sell the tripled Pulse Laser for 1200cr right at Lave. I think the player should decide: take the extra money or play without this bonus so I left this in.

Hi Norby and Thanks for your warm welcome!

Updated to latest trunk nightly build. My previous was about two weeks old.

Can't replicate "free 3x money by buying and selling" any more, which is a good thing :)

Thanks for your help!

Ps: Also started a new Jameson - my old one went through too many oolite versions .. so may have been corrupt.
