damaged equip

Is there a special ranking of what equipment becomes damaged preferably during a battle?
Since 1.82 I try to do a bit more of close range dogfight and every now and then my ship receives some damage.
So far it has been -
The integrated targeting system approx. 10x
The Naval Energy Unit 3x
The ECM 1x
The Military Shields 1x (well, that remained that way eternally due to lack of TL14 planets on my route)

Clearly the target computer is the no. 1 preferred target. The unneeded beer cooler, tea maker, docking computer - never! Including the lasers I have 25 pieces of equipment...

Do I have any influence on this?

The beer-cooler is guarded by the Gods of Ale - mine has only ever taken one hit!
My ship's cat, on the other hand, took loads of hits - go figure!

I actually had my ship's cat die on me a while ago, instead of the usual interminable period of being damaged. I'm not sure how many times it had previously been damaged, but maybe its nine lives had run out...

There is a damage_probability in [wiki]Equipment.plist[/wiki], for example [EliteWiki] tea maker less often suffer hits than core equipments due to set this below 1.

That law is very important! ECM will be damaged first when you face 10 enemies who each will fire at least one missile. And you'll lose your injectors if the next TL 10 planet is at least 5 jumps away, and you'll lose your fuel scoops if you are about to sun skim or if you have just destroyed a pirate freighter and tons of cargo are drifting around.

I don't know when cats get... um... injured. I didn't even know you can have cats. I'll probably look for an OXP this evening!

They don't actually do anything except make you feel vaguely guilty when they're injured and there is no way to buy vet services, not like bloody trumbles.

Hm. I don't seem to get cat offers. Should I go to a planet with a feline population?

And then, I'll feed them with trumbles! :twisted:

Some worlds don't offer them, not sure why.

It seems to be random. Meanwhile I've bought a cat at a station where I had been before without a cat being offered. It doesn't do anything though... it is just somewhere in my ship, hunting Trumbles, I suppose.

Moggs my little feline friend has never been hit or I've never noticed any notice that she has been. I rarley loose equipment to hits either. Usually only navigation stuff. Though seem to loose heaps of cargo and always the high end stuff, comps and furs. Hardly ever the low end stuff or stuff I liberated from the big freeze that idiot pirates seem to loose when they find out the Gertrude aint an easy target
