Escorts and speed

I was just following a Python Class Cruiser through a wormhole (test flying one myself). After running into a pack of Cylon Raiders at the witchpoint, I fought these together with the other PCC's escorts, and when we had done the job, the Cruiser had cowardly disappeared outside scanner range - that's probably a sensible thing to do for a freighter. His escorts were trying to follow him, but the PCC is quite fast, and although he was only going at about 80% max speed, his escorts only caught up very, very slowly.

I've never encountered a situation like this, and that's something I have to check for in my Torus Synchronisation OXP too, but the real question is, if a fast group leader shouldn't wait for his escorts or at least fly slower until they are near again. After all, he needs them to be around him for protection!

Just come across this post - I remember hearing the saying
"A fleet is only as fast as its slowest ship."

In "Issues and options for the Navy's combat logistics force.", the article suggested that certain members of the fleet needed to be replenished before their expected retirement date, as they could no longer keep up with other members of the fleet.

Happens to us all I guess.

Nice post - I'll keep a look out for such slow escorts.
