I need some help.

It's about binding keys, I understand what to do but I've never edited .plist files before (I'm using plist Editor Pro) and I'm completely clueless. I've tried using OoliteKeyConfig and pasting it in place of the keys but it's not working.
Can anyone help? I'm on Windows by the way, if that means anything because I remember something about macs having an easier time with plists.

Did you restart Oolite with the shift key held down until the spinning Cobra appears? You need to do that after tinkering with plists.

Welcome in the Oolite forum!
OoliteKeyconfig is a bit old, if you use Oolite 1.82 then better if you edit the oolite.app/Resources/Config/keyconfig.plist file with any text editor except Notepad which insert extra characters and break the file.

Better still to copy the
keyconfig.plist
, create a folder in
AddOns
named
Config
, drop the copy of the
keyconfig.plist
in there, then edit it.

Smells more like a Virtualization problem or a file with BOM (Byte Order Mark) - Oolite expects the .plist without BOM. Does Latest.log contain a useful hint?

Just a quick note that the only two plists that do NOT require a shifted restart are keyconfig.plist and logcontrol.plist.

<grins> You know, I think I now recall being told that before - thanks, Admiral. It's become habit for me - I tinker, I shift-start.

Sorry, I'm not particularly sure what a Byte Order Mark is or how to get rid of it. I tried reading latest.log and I can't see anything about .plists or BOMS.
If it helps, when I pasted the keyconfig controls, it looked completely different than what I saw on the plist file. I think that might be plist Editor Pro though.
I'll try simply modifying it with a different text editor than notepad and see if that works.

Thank you all so much, I tried simply using a different text editor and it worked, it now controls like a dream. Thanks so much, without your help I probably never would've been able to do it.

Hurrah! Now I can get my cheese deliveries in G1 again! Remember, I like Camembert, a nice soft Brie, or some of that Quorte Ultraviolet Cheese.
Happy flying, ManyAssortedCheeses! Long may you dairy!

Now that would be fun! There are already parcel deliveries for recipes, why not food? A delivery from the cheeses of the galaxy club? A rare vintage of some local wine? Someone in Ceesxe has a craving for genuine Reorte pizza with all the toppings? (Delivered in nine days or it's free!) Hmm!

It would be consistent with the blockade oxp recently discussed (Blue cheese blockaded!), and with the Random Hits oxp (bastard ate MY cheese!), and then with a welcome corruption oxp (May I tempt you with cheese, Sir?)...

Not much of a cheese shoppe, is it?
Finest in the quadrant sir.
Explain the logic underlying that conclusion!?
It's so clean!
Well it's certainly uncontaminated by cheese.
