That's debatable. When I got my licence there was a correct way to park, and anything else was technically illegal. Nowadays people just do whatever they feel like on the roads. The standard of driving in WA has plummeted since the turn of the century, with all the economic refugees from Victoria coming here.

Yeah, but nah. There the bays are painted at an angle to facilitate it, and there's likely a sign saying "Reverse angle park only". That's when it's safe, legal and appropriate. I'm complaining about the geniuses who insist on reversing into normal, right-angled bays in busy shopping centre carparks. I won't bother explaining why they're a menace; if anyone doesn't understand either the fad hasn't come to their town or they're one of the perpetrators.

Also, while I'm whinging, mothers who think that having children qualifies them to park in disabled bays if a carpark doesn't have special "mums with prams" bays. Also, mothers, if your children are old enough to walk independently, and not actually in a pram, you don't qualify for the mothers with prams bays (or the disabled bays). Also, mothers, merely having a child seat in the car doesn't qualify you if you've left your child at home in front of the TV and it's not even with you at all.

Also, a woman who queued behind me at a petrol station, even though there was a bowser available just over there (because apparently only the bowser closest to the kiosk was convenient enough for her), and even though everyone could see I was filling jerry cans and would be a while, then shouted at me to "hurry up". Hey lady, the bowser pumps as fast as it pumps, no amount of shouting will make it pump faster. Definitely don't respond to such genius by pointing to the very next bay and saying, "There was an empty pump right there if you were in a hurry." That only inflames the situation.

Speaking of inflaming the situation... Only ever seen in Queensland: people smoking (you know, cigarettes) on the forecourt of a petrol station. WTF!?

Not only do we have those idiots here in washington state, they will actually drive through an open spot to get to the other open spot so they don't have to back up their oversize SUV.
I have seen the gas station smokers. we also have those who insist on lighting up while holding the nozzle to the gas port.
We have drivers who spill gas on the ground then drop their cigarettes next to the spill before driving off.

Be thankful you don't have a bunch of Brisbanites over there.. worst drivers in Australia.. (and I can legitimately claim that, because I've driven -and held licences- in every State and Territory except Tassie and the ACT)

You're preaching to the choir there, I'm familiar with the habits of Brisbane drivers.

The "other washingtonians" are all a bunch of dips and I couldn't agree with you more. As voters, we send them over and they then proceed to do really stupid things.

Whenever I get a phone call like yours... it is usually for Juan or Julio the local hispanics.... the first time, I say wrong number and hang up... the second time, I say he is in jail, the third time.. he has been deported... the fourth time, I say that the cartel caught up with him... no more phone calls after that.

Now that the RL fines and people behaviours discussion has grown larger than the actual Oolite discussion on the same subject, time for a split.
