Ship Depreciation

I have noticed the trade in value of my ship steadily decreasing.
From reading several threads it appears that it will drop to a minimum of 75%.
Someone also said that it is best to repair the ship before trading it in for a new one to get the best value for money.
My problem is that I can't seem to find anywhere to repair my ship.
Even on Tech 14 stations.
Am I just missing a keystroke?

I think you just have to wait a bit longer. The repair shows up at fairly regular intervals. Every 3000 lightyears perhaps? :^)

When ship value is between 75 and 85%

The last time my ship needed repairing, I waited a *long* time before going to the dock. When I eventually did purchase the repair option, they took my money, but the repair option stayed on the menu. I flew to a couple of different worlds and it was still an option. So I bought it a second time.
Does this mean a repair doesn't always bring you up to 100%?

That's true of maintenance certainly, where the quality of the maintenance depends on the TL of the station doing the overhaul.

So would I be better off getting into a few more firefights to increase the depreciation rate or is it solely based on time?

It's based partly on fire-fights where hull damage might be done, but also on the corrosive effects of hyperspace travel.

Is it worth having a GalMOT? Basically if you don't repair your ship after it reaches a certain wear GalCorp fine you for flying a danger to the spaceways?
