Movie science - sometimes it really is science!

An unexpected byproduct of making the new movie
Interstellar; they used real physics to model the black hole, with hundreds of terabytes of data and a huge rendering farm, probably the most computing power ever thrown at a real astronomical simulation. The result is apparently the most accurate model yet of what a black hole looks like. Which turns out to be a little different from expectations:

No idea if the movie is any good, but at least some parts of the science should be right.

This is brilliant. Good to see sci-fi turning into sci-fact. And that black hole image looks much better than anything I have seen any sci-fi work has that I have seen.
I wonder if I can make an oxp to incorporate that image! Just imagine it, jump into system - instantly tore apart but, boy, what a view while it happens

There's a certain system which kills you if you don't get out fast (after one of the original missions has been run), maybe it could go there.

There is also an oxp that makes one of those things that make you need to get out fast! Run the mission a few times and you need to edit your save file as they tend not to go away!
