Cleaning up the save file

My main commander is now five years old, and while I've been on several hiatuses (hiati?) during that time, it does mean that several OXPs have come and gone or been substantially altered. My save file is currently almost 3000 lines, twice as much as another commander with just a few jumps done.
I've not really thought about it before, but it got a bit hard to ignore when I suddenly found myself with two different RRS reputations…
Is there a fairly simple way to purge the save file of all accumulated clutter? I don't mind losing all reputations and ongoing/completed missions in the process. The Commander is still puttering away in G1, so as long as the first native mission would trigger again, it's all good.
Or would it be better to just start a Jameson, edit the kills and give it a few million credits, then adjust back to current level once all equipment was re-installed? A delivery has taken me to Orrere, so there would not be any need to do a grand relocation to get things back in order.
Again, would the native mission trigger properly? (If not, I guess the solution would be a kill edit to just below mission-trigger, then a second edit back into the current Dangerous territory once it had triggered.)
Is there some grand negative consequence to any of this that I've not thought of?

Code: Select all
<key>Rescue Scenario 4a</key>
<string>The RRS Group lists you as a Tier 1 Contractor</string>
<key>Rescue Stations</key>
<string>The RRS Group lists you as a Tier 2 Contractor</string>
