Request: make MFD backgrounds and font color changeable

Is it possible to make a change to the core so that MFD backgrounds and Text colors could be changeable at oxp level?
Then the Hud wizards could make even more custom. I like to have some Bleu MFD's with Light Blue text for example. I asked Norby if he could come up with a sort of MFD color changer. That would be cool.

I know this is not a priority thing but is this not a good idea?

I think it can be cool if you can make the background of an MFD blue with light blue letters or for example gold yellow background with red letters. Anyway being able to set your mfd color depending on the situation. If you are for example sum skimming then you could put the mfd's in a contrasting color.

I'm not a big fan of MFDs - like Cody I try to avoid clutter on screen - but some flexibiity could be good. Having said that I can imagine a nightmare scenario with horrid clashing colours all over the screen where individual MFDs have been coloured very differently.
If the colours could be defined, it might be best if this is done by a separate OXZ which changes all the users' MFDs to a colour scheme they choose, rather than let the MFDs colour themselves individually and independently.

Yes. I'm with you on the clutter thing. But I do use the MFD's. When I don't need the MFD I turn them off. BTW how can you turn on/off all MFD's? On my computer MFD 1 always stays open.
This request was done to make it possible for an .oxp or .oxz to take care of the coloring. However as I understand (when I messaged with Norby about this) that the core code does not yet support colored MFD's other than the green variations.

Switch to MFD 1 with ':', press ';' until it turns off. If that doesn't work, one of your MFD OXPs has a bug that auto-opens it again.
I've added HUD-specified MFD colours to the list.

Ah ok. I think I know what the cause is. I have one of the early MFD's in Beta. I remove it from my add ons map and download the .oxz from within the manager.
Thanks for adding it to the list Cim.
I am very curious what results it would give and what sort of colors are possible.
Oolite- variation is the key!
