Flavourful Lore Expanding/Immersion Boosting OXPs?

When last I posted on these forums I was trying to get Oolite running on a dinky netbook that ran Oolite like molasses when I tried to pop all the sweet, sweet OXPs onto it.
It's two years later and I've got a new rig now, and I'm greedily rubbing my hands together. I'm definitely going to plumb the depths of the wiki again to see what I want to add, but (as the thread title indicates) I've got a question for the veterans of these here parts: what are your personal "must haves" in terms of expanding on the flavour/lore of the universe, stuff that accentuates the interpenetration (and divides) of socio-cultural, economic and political natures in the world of Oolite, that highlights history and lets you contribute to a dynamic future? What's going to make me slip into the "ooniverse" and get me interested in participating in factional conflicts (or conflict resolution, for that matter)? Anything from shipnames level immersion overhauls to Planetfall level immersion overhaul, fromm faction flavour like Commies, Anarchies, Dictators, Feudal States, etc to more mission flavoured stuff like Ionics, I'm into hearing what people here find to be the best of the best!
