Welcome aboard, Commander! I'm not familiar with the OXP, but two short jumps (in roughly the same direction) take far less time than one long jump.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Welcome trickylion!

I think you almost solved this puzzle, so I would not tell the exact solution yet, just my notes.
- A faster ship is a very small help, you can save a few minutes only on the Torus travels and docking due to the Torus speed is 32 times more than the normal max. speed of your ship.
- With OXP fuel pods you can skip a docking trip but the time limit is enough to do it without extra fuel. Still enough short too so usually need some retry to arrive in time.
- The jump times are the same regardless of your ship's speed, and as Cody said it is depending heavily on the length of the jumps.
- You can save some time if you avoid the instant docking feature (Shift+C) which add 20 minutes to your clock. Ideally you can Torus to the station then Inject to the nav buoy and dock manually.
- If you still can not arrive in time then ask again here or in private. If you can then please tell it is succeed without giving out too much informations (spoilers).

Yes, manual docking is the way to go! On a long run, 20 auto-dockings @ 20min each = nearly 7 hours!

Is the Collector mission only usable in G1?
I'm in G2 and got the first screen, now asking me to goto Devils T?
Is this a small glitch or can the mission be done in other galaxies?

You can hear the rumor in any galaxies but the story is going around a single person who can't be in more than one galaxy at the same time. ;)

Good point Norby

Think I'll have to reinstate the old practice of keeping a saved ship in each galaxy.
Haven't done that since V1.65

Hi Guys

I have been playing this (on and off) for about 2 years and I have to say, you guys are doing an AMAZING job.

I am looking for The Collector (without much luck). I came across the mission accidentally as I was on my own personal mission of visiting every system in Galaxy 1 (currently at 177 systems visited). When I stumbled upon this mission, it was not too far away from the Devils Triangle, so I thought "what the hell".
I have a couple of questions:

1. Is there a way to look through my in-game logs to find out which system I was in when I accepted the mission as I am pretty sure he is in a system that I was at prior to getting the mission (I my old alcohol addled brain is not quite what it used to be)?

2. If I install ALL of the mission OXP's with the intention of running them as I stumble upon them, will they conflict with each other or cause some sort of bug?

Thanks for any help and once again, AWESOME JOB GUYS.

Welcome Kerie in the forum!

[wiki]Flight Log[/wiki] and [wiki]CommsLogMFD[/wiki] could help if you installed these before you was there. If not then you have one more reason to install now. I can help more in private messages to avoid spoilers.

One of my goals with package collections is the new players install the logging ones in time and not "after event".

Not likely. Some add new ships which maybe change the game a bit far from the mission also but if you read the wiki page and forum topic of each installed missions then you should not get too much surprises. The only thing is a new bug what nobody seen yet if any.

The [wiki]Oolite Missions[/wiki] page can help to select, not so urgent to install one which is in another galaxy or need much higher rank to start.

Hi Kerie,
To avoid spoilers you can use rot13 which encrypts text into gobbledegook, so only the people who want to read it will decrypt it.
Can't help with the mission though - sorry.

That's the trouble with rot13 - 'cos I know its 'encryption' method, my brain always wants to translate it. <grins wryly>
