Tagging dumped cargo, wreck locator buoys

When I'm running really low on hold space I often dump a ton of low-value cargo to make room for something more valuable. If there's time I dump several tons together and at low speed, and return for them if there's any free hold space, but if that isn't possible they usually seem to end up flying around and indistinguishable from all of the other bits of junk, asteroids, etc. which means that I often end up scooping them up again by mistake.
What would be nice is a way to have cargo I've dumped show up with a different symbol or colour in the HUD or (slightly less useful) if I lock onto it for identification. Presumably this would need a hideously expensive machine aboard my ship, a targeting computer modification or something, but I'm cool with that.
Related to this, it would sometimes be nice to leave some sort of beacon at a point where I have left a wrecked ship or a bunch of cargo pods because e.g. my hold is full or I've just buggered the scoops, zip to the nearest station and sell the cargo / get repairs, then return to the beacon and recover the pods. I'd imagine that something like that would be expensive, run out of power fairly quickly, and possibly attract trouble one way or another, but it might be worth it occasionally.
