Mysterious kill

Hi,
First post! Can anyone solve this puzzle....

I had the misfortune to run into a band of pirates in the Zasoer system, so I did what all brave traders do and turned tail and ran for it.

However, I had a pesky Aphid on my back, so I targeted him with a missile which shot off in hunt of its prey. The Aphid swerved and sped off at high speed. I think he must have had a witch-space fuel injected engine as he managed to outrun the missile. He disappeared off the edge of my scope long before the missile did.

Anyway, I eventually made it to the safety of the Coriolis station and noticed that my kill tally had gone up by one. Do you think it's possible that the missile had eventually destroyed the Aphid when both the Aphid and the missile were out of range of my scanners? But, if so, why didn't I receive a bounty? Other than that encounter, I can't account for any other kill on that journey.

Yes, very curious. Your missile ordinance wouldn't be other than the core items, would they? What I mean is, have you added any OXP missiles?

G'day Kyron, and welcome aboard! 8)

I seem to recall that you are not the first to report something like this anomaly happening, although a few quick searches failed to turn up any posts confirming this..

Yes, 'tis strange.....

My missiles are bog standard 30Cr cheap and cheerful projectiles. The way I'm playing Oolite at the moment is as a peaceful Trader, trying to make my million with as few kills as possible. So he was a bit horrified to learn that he's been credited with killing someone, but even more horrified that he's not even received a bounty for it to cover the cost of the missile expenditure.
