Oh, is *that* why it's quiet round here?

I take it everybody's busy downloading the alpha 2 of a certain other game? The one that's a bit like a multiplayer version of Oolite?

Not me... I'm patiently awaiting Beta-2. I'm not watching any vids either.

I don't know about other people, but I'm mostly just busy with school and work. Also, 70% off for Kingdoms of Amalur, for which I've already put 20 hours into, soooooo yeah. lol.

Quite right too - everyone should visit the orphan worlds at least once (and crossing the Great Rift in G7 is a must too).

I'm also going to wait for the full release before I go for Elite Dangerous ...

I'm sitting here, playing Oolite, keeping a flight log on a spreadsheet, listening to the Carl Sagan's Cosmos Podcast Edition, and pretending that I don't have man-flu. Anyone got a life I can borrow? :D

I don't have a computer capable of running E: D.. and still haven't checked out the alpha-play vids..

I just have far too many other plates in the air I'm trying to juggle..

@ Diogenese.. you can have mine.. but you wouldn't like it!

No E:D here - I'm not a backer and am unlikely to buy the game as things stand.
Just been busy with both RL(TM) and doing a bit of OXP-ing. I must admit I hadn't noticed it being quiet here either - there seems to be plenty going on :)

The sheer number of changes in Oolite between v1.65 and v1.79 betas is staggering, and for some of us OXP makers...quite daunting!

Some of my own OXPs are painfully version-specific.
My currently very inactive and very incomplete Null Gates project relied on a "clever kludge" of weird game behavior that was only present in v1.76.
Quite a few of Switeck's Shipping AI changes are hopefully incorporated into Oolite itself as of v1.79, and as such are invalidated by it.
Auto-ECM, Misjump Inducer, and Quantum Drive all rely on the prime-able equipment functionality that was first added in v1.75 -- before that, lots of on-demand equipment had to use up a missile slot and activated like a q-bomb.

Making and maintaining OXPs (and now OXZs) right now is like trying to make browser add-ons for Firefox...while Firefox went from v3 to v20+!

I'm currently waiting for some game features to stabilize before I try to make add-ons for them.

I'm a backer but only of the full game and then the Mac stretch goal. But as it stands it does not replace Oolite. It will be a different game.

I was not that excited to pay that much money for an Alpha. Maybe this comes due the fact that we as Ooliters are already spoiled with good gameplay. For me the graphics in Oolite look already good enough to immerse me. But I'm keeping an eye on the developments of ED too. But my pc's are too old. Thats why I backed the Mac stretch goal.

I'm still playing Oolite on a regular basis. It it not too quiet here is is?
I see regular posts by regular posters. :D

<nods> Indeed! I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of people on the E: D forum who play (or have played) Oolite.

I have Alpha access in ED, but this forum is sort of home in the forum world. So it's more a case of me spending more time on the computer and as a consequence, I'm spending my brownie points like there is no tomorrow right now (I'm going to pay dearly for that soon). Especially after the HIMSN thread was awakened from it's deep sleep.

My computer isn't good enough to run E:D and I'm broke, so the only thing I can do is watch gameplay vids...

I'm just back from four weeks of vacation, and only four pages of unread topics suggest that overall it has been a quiet time here.

As for E:D, while I've backed at a level that allows me to participate in the beta phase (but not yet in the current alpha phase), this is of no practical consequence, because I'm on a Mac, and Mac support is only going to get added after the final release. Thus I figure that I have at least another half year until I need to begin to spend thoughts about E:D. Until then, Oolite holds my full attention (together with Limit Theory, but this is also not going to be released for another half year or so).
