Question - Masking hud dials with png ?

Hm puzzled ...

Is it possible to overlay a dial that is drawn as part of a hud (like for example; the speed bar, the shields and so on with a semi transparent .png file to mask part of that dial ?
I have seen some huds for download here with and underlay, but I would need to load an image over a couple of instruments. Can this be done or is it something for future versions of Oolite ?

And if it can be done, would someone point me to a working example please ?

thanks

Dertien

This isn't possible as-is. The draw order of the HUD is legends, then dials, and images can only be added as legends, so the dials always get drawn on top.

Thanks Cim

You might be able to get away with reducing the alpha of your HUD object, making it slightly transparent, so that you can see the PNG underneath.

Yeah, tried to do that, but the whole thing does look a bit unreal like that. Changed the hud altogether though, and now everything should be spiffy.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
