Not sure if this should be in the suggestion part of the forum but...
Is their an oxp to add more ship info on the ship buying screen? I find it really hard to make a decision when I'm buying a ship when it only shows how much cargo it can hold.
I think it would be awesome if we could see how fast the ship can go, how many missile slot it has, etc.

This is something that I suggested some time ago. See thread here. Maybe it will be implemented or maybe not. Time will tell.

It would still be nice though if we could have some kind of extra info on the buying ship screen.

[wiki]ShipVersion[/wiki] show detailed confirmation screeen right when you try to buy a ship to show the version number also. Versions extends the ship buying process: you may not buy your wanted ship at the first shipyard where it is available if it is v2.0 only, but go to some more shipyards to get at least v5.0, and later when you bought your favourite ship you will buy it again if you see with very high version number.

If you are less experienced pilot you should reduce the AwardMax variable in shipversion.js, and always save your game before go to check ship details due to the game will be always remove the checked ship from the shipyard (there was not better solution at oxp level).

Other mentioned OXPs are good also but need more keypresses, and the best "data overlay" method what spara suggested need core improvements.
