tiny little request for UnZoom

After playing Oolite for a couple months, up to 1900+ on the score card, I have one tiny little request after playing with 1.62 for awhile... how about an UnZoom feature to match the Zoom on the scanner?
The previous versions I would hit the zoom key quickly to get to the level I wanted, but with 1.62, it's a slow, smooth transition between zoom levels, and I can no longer hit the Z key quickly to get where I want... it doesn't move fast enough to register the multiple key presses, and I have to wait till it's done "zooming" to see how many more times I have to hit it. I've wished many times that I could just easily do something like Shift-Z to make it unzoom up one level.
Is that possible?
Thanks for an awesome game!!

I second that request! I think the smooth scaling between zoom scales is superb, but quite often I need to zoom back out from 2:1 and have to go through all the progressive 'zoom ins' to get back to 1:1.
It's especially noticeable for me when the alarm goes off, and you can't see where an attack is coming from until you zoom back out...

Please tell me that is an automated post - If not, I am awed(read:scared) by the speed of that response!

It’s not automated. He really doesn’t have a life. ;-)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the default for “zoom out” should be Shift-Z.

It's not an automated post, this the most dynamic BBS and development crew that I've ever seen, awesome is spot on!
Pity my bank isn't as responsive!!

I second that. Seems like the natural option to me.

Implemented in v1.64 (r319), shift-Z un-zooms the scanner.

Wow. THAT is quick. I have decided to remain in awe.

Sometimes requests fit with what I'm doing, and aren't too difficult to implement. The unzoom feature had been asked for before, but I just didn't get around to it until this morning. There are still many long-sought features on my todo list that are on my brain's back-burner.
Plus I get distracted: I've been thinking about a new way to implement hazard-avoidance and other 'instinctive' responses into ship/pilot's behaviour - it's a good scheme, but it's a big change to the current system - so I'm holding off. Pylon-mounted 'launcher' weapons (think rocket-pods) are another idea just bubbling under the procrastination threshold.

Just tried this on Windows.....Hitting Shift-Z makes you completely unzoom to 1:1 rather than just go up a level.
Is that intended?
I'm guessing we need to add unzoom_pressed equivalents of zoom_pressed (?)

Yes, and as such the unzoom_pressed variable should be unnecessary.

Yes, and as such the unzoom_pressed variable should be unnecessary.
Is this also true for the Mac version? My preference would be to go up one level at a time for every press of Shift-Z, so during a space battle or something I can go to level 5, up to level 4, then back to level 5, etc.
Thanks!
