1.62 crashes when I launch for 1st time

Hi, this is my first post here. I just found out about Oolite a few hours ago, and i HAD to get hold of it and have ago.

I've installed it using the windows binary installer (1.62).

What happens is as follows:

1. I start it up, and get the normal intro screen
2. I press 'N', then space, as prompted
3. I press 1 to launch.
4. I get the image of flying through a tube, but then Oolite crashes. So I never actually get to see outside the space station.

I've tried saving a commander, and reloading it on startup. I've had a look at the suggestion for replacing the C:\Program Files\Oolite\oolite.app\Contents\Resources\AIs fiels, but the offered files were the same as the files that I already had.

I've tried running in both fullscreen and window mode.

I've also tried changing various openGL settings on my graphics card.

My system: Windows XP pro sp2. AMD Athlon XP 1800+, graphics GeCube Radeon 7000.

If anyone can help me get this going it would be great - my appetite has been well and truly whetted!

Thanks very much.

I don't have any particular suggestions, except to try the latest build, available at http://nic.dnsalias.com/oolite-1.63gust ... -win32.exe .

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, it didn't work.

Same thing happens again :(

I start oolite, press 'n', press space, press '1' and go through a tunnel, then it crashes.

I tried it without my video card driver installed, and it worked, but was very slow. I came out of the tunnel and there was a planet right in front of me. That's not practical, though, because then I can only use very slow refresh rates for my monitor, and all the other things the video driver takes care of.

ho hum.

Any more ideas?

Try this:
http://www.scitechsoft.com/products/ent/gld_home.php
(the download for it is at the bottom of this page:
http://www.scitechsoft.com/products/pro ... nload.html )

That replaces your OpenGL drivers with drivers that wrap around Direct3D ones. It's only a demo, so eventually will time out, but should let you play the game in the mean time.

(It helped my machine display the intro screen correctly)
