First off, many thanks to the maker(s) of the game. Loving it, and the various OXPs too!

I'm new to this but have found a few things after reading the threads here that have come in very handy - and when first realised, have resulted in those forehead smacking moments of realisation we all know and love.

I expect those with experience to tut with the obviousness of some of these, but please post your top tips here for us beginners! I guess it'd be nice to have all these in one thread.

Starting off with mine...

1. Holding down the z key to zoom in quickly for 5:1 scanner viewing; press again to quickly zoom back to 1:1. (any chance of shift-z to zoom out please?)

2. Lots of little Witchjumps actually take less game time than big ones it would appear. Useful for those cargo/passenger deadlines.

3. Scooping fuel is MUCH easier from smaller stars (as shown on map)

4. Pressing the i key on the star map shows icons (which are learnt pretty quickly!)

5. On the passenger list, after highlighting potential passengers, pressing ? shows the planet destination, pressing again goes back to the passenger list.

...and the best one for last!

6. Pressing the enter key on the trading screen to buy/sell all! I still can't get over how long I was pressing left/right cursor keys in a RSI inducing tedium.

At the moment only have one gem to offer from when I occasionally play FFE that works just as well in Oolite:

Sell your starting ship for something cheaper and kit it out.

Rxke recommended the Cobra MKI - I agree, very nice.

Actually, I prefer the MkII-X, from Aegidian's X-Ships OXP

To get to a planet quickly, jump for about 15 seconds away from the area between the witchspace beacon and the planet, then turn to face the planet. You'll be out of the shipping lane and heading straight for the planet without any mass locked-ing :)
