[Solved] Launching aborted, can't play game.

I installed Oolite through the Ubuntu Software Centre and whenever I click the icon to start the game, a small, black screen pops up and then disappears. When I type "oolite" on the terminal, I get this:

After typing "oolite" on the terminal and pressing ENTER, the same black window pops up and then disappears.

I have no idea what to do now. My version is Lucid Lynx 10.04 (I know it's no longer supported).

Hi erthar, and welcome. Sorry to hear you're having trouble.
My first suggestion is to download the current version (1.77) from Oolite.org, as the repo still hasn't been updated. Don't be put off if it's not described as 'stable'. It is the most recent release and is reliable.
If that doesn't help, get back to us and give any other info that might be useful - computer spec, O/S version you are using etc, and we'll soon get you up and running, I hope.

Edited to add :- Ah, I'm not paying attention - I'm still on Lucid Lynx myself and have 1.77 running very well, so it might be a computer issue, so let us know your specs. Do you have a graphics card or are the graphics on-board, that type of thing.

This is definitely an old/unsupported version issue and I don't know why the Ubuntu Software Center still distributes such an old version of the game. The log format suggests that it is most likely v1.65. erthar, as Smivs suggested, v1.77 from http://www.oolite.org is what you are looking for.
