Marcan Rayger Frontier/Elite fan-fics revisited

Many, many moons ago, back in 1999 and 2000, I was rather an active participant of alt.fan.elite and other ancient discussion groups and wrote a series of Marcan Rayger fan-fic stories set in Elite/Frontier universe (more Frontier, but with elements from Elite thrown in).
Now, as a result of a reader recognizing my name and reminding me of my own past exploits, I'm revisiting these novellas and giving them a small facelift (only grammar corrections etc. - no complete rewrites). Two are done, three more are in the works.
So, please, if you feel so inclined, visit my site and give them a look:

Or, alternatively, get them at Goodreads:

Yesterday I've read part 1 Hunting for Troy. Excellent stories. How on earth did I miss it.

One wonders how Marcan Rayger would pronounce Diso?

Thank you for the comment! You may just have motivated me to go and revisit the rest of the series for re-publication over the summer.
And, insofar as pronouncing Diso is concerned, Marcan keeps the vowels short (no diphthong) and the consonants harsh.

I started going through the third story this weekend. It requires a bit more work than the two first ones to make it presentable (it was always the weakest of them all), but I should be able to get it out within a week (or two at the most).

Oh good! It's not just me
(Though I probably tend to alternate between "Dee-so" and "Dee-zo"...)

The third part of the series is now downloadable at the main site (link in sig). I'll get it up on Goodreads as well as soon as possible.
For anyone who read the earlier version over the past 10-15 years, some of the story elements have been changed quite a lot (and even removed) while others have been introduced in their stead. This was mainly done to remove some of the ridiculously numerous coincidences that the story began to get burdened with. Also, the language has been tidied up and improved a lot - there are probably still some annoyances left and I hope you'll excuse me for those (I did not rewrite the story, merely edited it heavily).
Again, any feedback is welcome, even if it is negative.

Thanks for taking the time to sort these out, Wolfwood.
(I've put some rot13 in here to avoid spoiling the story for pagroove and others )
I thoroughly enjoyed the first two, Castor in particular and especially [rot13]Gur qrfpevcgvba naq zlfgrel fheebhaqvat gur qreryvpg clguba naq fhofrdhrag npdhvfvgvba bs gur punenpgre-shyy fuvc![/rot13]
I also enjoy your description of the ship to ship combat as well as your writing style - fairly fast paced without dwelling on unnecessary plot details.

I highly recomend reading these - great work Woofwood

Thank you for the kind comments!
I'm glad you like Castor - [rot13]Ur'f bar bs zl snibhevgr punenpgref nf jryy naq pregnvayl jbegu guvf erivfvg sbe zr nf jryy![/rot13] The style of the stories is definitely fast-paced. Certainly faster-paced than the types of stories I write nowadays, but I think the pace is quite fitting for the universe. Elite and Frontier were never actually _slow_ games, even though they were atmospheric.

And since this was asked... I recorded a sound clip of how Marcan Rayger pronounces some of the planet/system names in the Elite universe. See if you can recognise them from this sound bite!

EDIT: uploaded to Youtube instead.

The third part is now also available on Goodreads, but only in .ePub format. I'm looking into getting it there also in .mobi format for any Kindle users out there...

Also, I'd appreciate reviews etc. posted on Goodreads!

The fourth part is now available both at Goodreads and at the official site.
"Marcan Rayger's quest to find Castor's brother is coming to an end. We finally get answers to what happened on Professor Bardoff's ship, the Argo II - but who is telling the truth and will Marcan receive the hefty reward that he was promised for finding Polydeuces?"
Goodreads presently carries only the ePub format (I've mailed a question to support, but they apparently take their time answering questions). The official site also has the goods for Kindle and other .mobi format users out there.
