Cup of Tea OXZ
v1.2 is now available, with new features. See here for details.
Following on from a silly idea I had in this thread, I am pleased to tell you all that you can now enjoy a lovely cup of tea while waiting to get past slower traffic, queueing at the station etc.
You can now buy a Tea making machine anywhere for just 100Cr. It is primable equipment, so 'shift-n' to prime and 'n' to activate. Console messages will tell you how your cup of tea is progressing and a gong tells you when it's ready. The Tea Maker is very efficient and your piping hot cuppa will be ready in just 15 seconds.
Cup of Tea OXP can be downloaded here. Enjoy

Re: [RELEASE] Tea maker OXP
It's a great idea, but at 15 seconds, maybe it's too fast ... if there were several stages involved, and some random delaying factors ("You'll have to open a new carton of milk"; "Someone has eaten all the chocolate digestives"; "There are no clean cups", etc.) it could turn the tea-making into a protracted faff which could get you past a whole posse of Pythons. You'll have to warm the pot, at least, surely ... I mean, 15 seconds to make a cup of tea? It's just not British.

Indeed old chap, but this is the thirty-something Century - modern technology and all that.Disembodied wrote:... I mean, 15 seconds to make a cup of tea? It's just not British.
Having said that, your ideas are tempting. I did knock this out in about five hours (which included a shopping trip!), so maybe I'll spend a bit more time (and put a bit more effort) into v2.0.

It should have a coffee option too... and maybe call it the Nootrimatic Drinks Dispenser?

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: [RELEASE] Tea maker OXP
Well, in that case it should dispense beer and crisps as well!
As for coffee, do you really want that psychotic pirate in the Ferdy heading straight for you on injectors to also be on a caffeine high!?

Pff. Any self respecting pilot will still buy his supply of six packs and store them in the beer cooler. Seriously.
On a related note: much needed OXP. Awful to be without tea.

That's ok.. I like the idea that yours actually does something, rather than simply function as a laser-magnet. Mine was mostly intended as a joke anyway. If you teach your machine how to roast fresh Colombian beans to perfection, grind them and then make (at minimum) the 4 most popular types of coffee, in addition to merely making tea, I'd be happy to remove my feeble effort from circulation!Smivs wrote:Hey, well I never caimed it was an original idea!Wildeblood wrote:You had?Smivs wrote:Following on from a silly idea I had in this thread...

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Then when the Tea is served, your comms message reads "No tea: Dropped".Cody wrote:It should have a coffee option too... and maybe call it the Nootrimatic Drinks Dispenser?

I think there should be a chance of the tea making screwing up one's ship (as, again, a la Hitchhiker's Guide).

Does this mean your ship has an Infinite Improbability Drive fitted?UK_Eliter wrote:I think there should be a chance of the tea making screwing up one's ship (as, again, a la Hitchhiker's Guide).

Re: [RELEASE] Tea maker OXP
I've already made an Infinite Improbability Drive of sorts, but it only worked in Oolite v1.76 due to specific quirks it took advantage of...it could stack multiple wormholes on top of each other and it wasn't completely certain where you would exit. It was reliable, after a fashion, but I had to be very careful when using it. If I was using it for long-distance jumping, it often resulted in different travel times each time I used it. ...Or it could just fail to reach the destination and/or get stuck in an infinite loop. It used to crash the universe, but I think cim fixed that problem.
