Joystick choices

Ok, once again it is time to tackle the Oomniverse and and strive for the Elite status of old. I have OOlite 1.77 working nicely on my i7 quad core machine under Ubuntu 12.10, but I found that my Saitek P3000 game pad doesn't play nicely with Linux, and the other generic game pad I will have no words for. So maybe it is time to go and take a look at a joystick (only because I really suck rocks with the keyboard.).

I was looking at the various models of joysticks for instance the Mad Catz F.L.Y.5 Stick, Saitek Aviator Flightstick for PC, or maybe even the Razer Nostromo Gaming Keypad and augment that with one of the aforementioned joysticks. Ok, so I am a dreaming a fantasizing about my idea devices. Really, I am just curious for the joysticks users out there what is a good joystick that I can configure under linux and works flawlessly.

There's so many good ones to choose from.

Whilst I missed posting in the thread that maaarcooose mentioned, I can report that the Saitek Cyborg EVO joystick performs flawlessly on my Linux machine.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I am going to try my hand at the Saitek PS38 Cyborg F.L.Y5 Flight Stick and hope that this is a winner for me. Although my Saitek gamepad didn't seem to work, I am hoping for better results with the joystick.

Nice looking 'stick. I like the way the outrigger sections rotate to reduce the footprint when not in use.

I just wonder if it actually allows be to yaw with the main stick or would I have to get creative me with a button. I have seen some that allow for x, y and z axis control with the main stick... But I am not sure of the model...

Some research on the specs and reviews might turn up some useful info.. it does have dual throttles, which I noticed can be mapped to different axis' as well.
