How about to tweet from game automatically with position,commander name and other data to other players which are online?
Good or bad idea?

Good idea, but there is no TCP/IP connectivity within the game for now.

Actually there is (test releases only). The Debug Console exchanges packets with the core game using TCP/IP and you can have the core and the console on different computers on the internet and still do test and debugging. So the game itself is in position to send and receive packets. What it doesn't do at the moment is send packets containing information different to what is strictly needed for the operation of the console and its interaction with it.
Theoretically this request could be implemented, but I am afraid that it falls under the category "too much work with too little in return". The packet description protocol will have to be updated to contain the additional information to transmit and some kind of interaction with Twitter will have to be considered too (like, how is the game exactly going do the tweet? Open a browser and do it like a bot? How are the info packets will be exactly formatted? How is the receiving server going to recognize them? Remember that the console is programmed by us and we can adjust its protocol if needed, but a third part server is not under our influence. Is there another way? I honestly do not know. Probably some additional research will be needed, which will require time that would probably be spent much more efficently on developing features more directly related to the game itself).
Essentially, the principles that make the request non-feasible are the same that stop us from converting to multiplayer. Someone who thinks that this is worth their time will have to implement it, test it and generate the patch that will enable this. As is, I doubt that any of us will consider taking on a task requiring such a time investment.

Hi Damir, and welcome to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat.
Sorry, but it does look like twitting from Oolite won't happen any time soon. I'm not even sure how much of a following Twitter has around here - we're a funny bunch in some ways, and an attempt to add farcebook 'like' buttons wasn't too successful either
What we do have though is a very active
chatroom (irc) where many of us gather and natter at all times of the day and night (depending on where you are of course). Why not join us there sometime?

I'm having trouble thinking of any practical purpose for being able to tweet Oolite details.. sounds like an in-game IRC client might be in order though..

I'll just say here that I don't like the idea of any game updating twitter or any social media. I get sick enough of spam and re tweets already from heavy twitter users, and can you imagine the influx of messages a game could generate?
@hdSelezen has launched from Diso
@hdSelezen has hyperspace to Leesti
@hdSelezen has mined an asteroid
@hdSelezen has docked at Leesti
@hdSelezen has bought 42 tons of food
@hdSelezen has set hyper drive for Diso
@hdSelezen has bought a missile
... And so on
No ta.

I suppose it could lead to some amusing moments...

I think mine would be more like:
@maaarcooose was mass locked.
@maaarcooose engaged 12 hostiles
@maaarcooose bit off more than he could chew.
@maaarcooose was atomised before he could say "Oh f..."
@maaarcooose went back to writing.

Thank you Maaarcooose. Lately I didn't upload much but I'm working on an 'inspired by Oolite' Sound track (it is not yet on my Souncloud).
So far I made 3 tracks:
1. Commanders Launch
2. Witchspace
3. Planet Vision
I'm working on the 4th but RL is hitting hard at the moment.

Looking forward to it.
I'm not really a dance head (mostly I like metal) but there seems to be a better class of music on there as opposed to the tripe I here coming out of the radio.
Loving Sparkleworld.
