Wormholes whooohoo

I just had my first wormhole experience!
I was flying very close parallel to an outgoing Boa to admire the craft in sideview....it was almost in view, the exhaust was coming in sight: Jump:
Free ride to Isinor
Thank the Lords, that Boa was on the same tangent as I was; I wouldn't want to fly into any anarchic system yet. (With only a large cargohold fitted.)

You are obviously mistaken, A_H... My wormholes do not make this "Whoohoo!" noise of which you speak.
On a vaguely related topic, am I the only one who finds the wormhole transit effect eerily reminiscent of the Loony Tunes logo, to the extent of going "Adi-bi-adi-bi-adi-bi that's all folks!" while transiting?

Oooh, that’d be a good easter egg.

I've only used one wormhole so far, just to try it. IIRC it just shot me across to a further part of the same galaxy. I recall reading some threads when they were being discussed and implemented but cannot find them now.
So what triggers them and what do they actually do. I can see them being useful as an escape route in combat.
Nothing on the Wiki yet either.

They’re generated when ships jump.

It's some other bugger's hyperspace exit cloud. (We just need a hyperspace cloud analyser next so we can find out where it's going and what made it).

I used to free-jump through the holes almost exclusively for awhile, just following big fat traders. (Now on a mission, I obviously can't)
But I had the impression they sometimes jumped more than 7ly, is that possible, or just my imagination?

I don't recall seeing other craft Galactic hyperspace, but if it happens out of sight then I would expect to see more, only encountered about 3 so far.

This happened early on, but should be fixed.

It was too late for that, lets just call it a Premature Ejection
