Talking to a new friend on the irc, and he's trying to sign up here on the BB, but is getting no activation email.

hi, no activation email has arrived from the forum

I know PM notifications are playing up and also of one member who is trying (failing) to get a password reminder, so the BB sounds a bit poorly. If true, this issue might be costing us new members.
Does anybody know what's going on?

I took-up EV's suggestion - Jens has an email in his inbox

I'm not sure how much access Jens has to the actual PHP server of the forum - but it can't do any harm to at least ask!

Okay, looks like the board is set to send e-mail through a swedish server, that is possibly a machine to which Jens has access. For whatever reason the problem seems to be with that machine. I've reset the board to send e-mail using the PHP mail function, which may or may not solve the problem, please let me know and I'll have another poke at things in the morning.

That seems to have fixed it, at least for new users.

As the problem seems to be with a Swedish SMTP server, where Jens has access, he might also not be receiving his email at the moment.

Ah, the irony, emails asking Jens to investigate lack of email notifications might not be getting through for the same reason...

Interesting this.

I had a bit of an issue where I could no longer sign in on my phone, even with the correct password. Kept saying I'd had too many login attempts.
So I tried to reset my password and got no email. Was about 2 steps away from reporting it.

I did a quick 'force reactivation' on his account that should send out another activation email.
